"Moment 6" is based on the use of translucent domes housing high-brightness cool-white LEDs mounted in 5 x 5 grids on four gallery walls painted gray. Each matrix forms a visually unified matrix at the same time as the effects of the flashes from the other walls create an encompassing environment. As in all "Moment" works, there is no connection between the individual units: all are triggered independently by ambient beta and gamma particles.
As is the case in all "Moment" sketches, the arrangement of triggered lights is derived from a the results of real-world triggering. However, they are views of an entire second in time; the real installations are in continuous change through the various stages from initial triggering through full brightness and decay.
The domes themselves are modified commercial fixtures. All detecting and triggering modules are concealed.
